Makkelijk Breipatroon Balaclava [Tutorial]

3. November Balaclava Mini pattern by PetiteKnit

The November Balaclava Mini is worked from the top down in fisherman’s rib. First, a square is worked for the top of the head. Then stitches are picked up and knitted along the sides of the square and the balaclava is worked back and forth to under the chin, where it is joined in the round. At the end, a rib edge is worked around the face opening. The balaclava has a feminine fit, as it covers the ears, but not the forehead or sides of the face. Note that the measurements given for the finished balaclava are for after it has been washed. The hat should be washed before wearing as the fisherman’s rib grows giving the hat the correct size. Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge. Wash and block the swatch before taking any measurements. Sizes: 0-1 (1-2) 2-7 years Head circumference: 44-46 (46-49) 49-54 cm [17¼-18 (18-19¼) 19¼-21¼ inches] Gauge: 16 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in fisherman’s rib on 4.5 mm [US7] needles before washing; the equivalent of 14 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in fisherman’s rib on 4.5 mm [US7] needles after washing, as fisherman’s rib grows with washing and wear (note that 36 rows in fisherman’s rib are counted as 18 knit sts). 11. Matching Balaclava pattern by Katrin Schubert

I have been thinking about a balaclava pattern for a long time, but never started knitting one. I had enough yarn left of my previous sweater projects to knit matching balaclavas. The pattern is using brioche knit stitches only (not a single brioche purl stitch!) and is made in one piece. The balaclava can be worn in different ways, covering mouth and nose or not. If you pull it back it looks like a hood, it is up to you how to wear it. Definitely it is very warm and squishy and if you are using a neutral color it becomes a part of your daily wardrobe next winter. The Balaclava is very stretchy, slightly slouchy and well-fitting at the same time. It’s important to note that there is no 4-stitch-decrease to be knit. You can do it, knitters! The hat can be knit in multiple sizes by changing the number of stitches, or needle size and gauge; Block the finished balaclava to smooth the stitches. Sizes are given in Adult S ( Adult M, Adult L). MEASUREMENTS Circumference bottom 18 (20, 22)“/45 (50, 55cm). LENGTH 14” (15,16)“/35cm (37,5, 40)cm. YARN Altogether 250yd/230m of Aran weight yarn. Rose version shown was knit with Walkcollection Merino Aran (100% wool, 181yd/100g) in Creme-Cherry-Brittle (Adult M). Brown version shown was knit with Walkcollection Merino Aran (225m/100g) in Hazelnut (Adult M). NEEDLES 2 x Size 6 US/4,0mm 16”/40cm circular. NOTIONS Stitch marker, darning needle for weaving in ends. GAUGE 18 sts, 40 rounds = 4” / 10cm in blocked brioche stitch. TECHNIQUES Cast on, k, p, sl1yo, brk, brRsldec, brLsldec, brk2tog.

Elf Pixie Ribbed Balaclava pattern by Agnese Iskrova

This balaclava pattern will help you to make a hat exactly like the pictured one! The pattern is for 0-6m, 6-12m and 12-24m. UPDATED on Jan 2, 2017: added 2-4 year size to the pattern! UPDATED on Oct 1, 2019: added 4+ size to the pattern! (this will fit most adults too) UPDATED on Aug, 2021: #lowvision This pattern is available in both regular and in a low vision formats. There are three versions – one regular and two low vision formats, one is black on white, the other is white on black. The font is 24 point, monospaced font, no italics. All directions are written (no chart). You will need yarn, knitting needles, a tapestry needle or crochet hook to weave in the yarn ends and also the same tapestry needle to graft stitches at the back of the hat. Since the hat part of this is knit flat, you can use any knitting needles you like. I prefer using ether long circulars, or long straight “afghan” knitting needles. The neck part is knit in the round – so, you will need either double pointed needles or a circular needle to make a magic loop. You need to get the gauge to be 19st in 4inches (10cm). *** PLEASE NOTE – YOU ARE ALLOWED (AND ENCOURAGED) TO SELL ANY FINISHED ITEMS YOU MAKE USING ANY OF MY PATTERNS.
